ReadWriteCloud recently wrote about this infographic on the history of collaboration in the enterprise from Socialcast. It starts out with a quote from Charles Darwin and navigates the history of collaboration, ending up with 10 common forms of wasted effort in collaboration – concepts our customers often come to us looking to improve. I started [...]

Recently, I’ve been asked by more than a few analysts, press, and business partners about the adoption of Subversion Edge, which we released earlier this year. The simple answer is terrific! One great thing about Subversion Edge is that users can still opt for the lightweight certified Subversion binaries across a variety of platforms – or instead can also install the certified Edge software stack containing the latest versions of Subversion®, Apache, and ViewVC combined with i) a single installer, ii) already configured to work together, and iii) fronted by a powerful and secure Web-based console. The benefits of this full installation is that is provides simple installation, administration, security, and governance of a user’s Subversion environment.

The reaction to CollabNet’s acquisition of Danube in the press last week was extremely favorable. The market and our customers understand our vision and the rationale for this exciting merger. It’s great to see. Last week, an Agile industry press expert asked me, “How does [CollabNet’s] merger of ALM and Agile leaders compare to the recent marketecture announcement of Company X, Y, and Z”? These were his words, not mine. (For obvious reasons, I have removed the references to the other companies this expert mentioned to me.)

A recent Forrester research noted that 40% of the developers in Europe use Subversion. At CollabNet, we have been pegging worldwide Subversion usage somewhere between 4-5M, so it was interesting to get an external survey to validate our own projections. I compared this information against other data I gathered from a job site called Indeed.com.
