Demand for Certified Scrum Experts On the Rise

Enterprises in all industries are investing heavily to develop complex products and services that are more software intensive. They don’t want to trade functionality, customer satisfaction, or quality for fast delivery. They are seeking to expedite development cycles, avoid those painful tradeoffs, and get quality products to market quickly. This is one major reason that Agile Scrum principles are becoming popular with developers and others involved in taking software to market.

Agile Scrum can be an alternative or a complement to Waterfall or traditional project management methodologies because it’s a flexible yet powerful framework for developing and sustaining complex products that doesn’t depend on sequential development. At its core, Scrum advocates adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, and continuous improvement. It also encourages rapid and flexible response to change.

Software development and delivery processes require participation from teams in different disciplines. Therefore, the principles of Scrum are expanding beyond the developer community as more professionals see that the principles and framework demonstrate tangible value in a variety of functional areas.

IT and software development professionals continue to be the primary Scrum users followed by product development and operations professionals. However, other departments, including research and development, sales and marketing, finance/accounting, and human resources, use it as well and are even embracing it.

In a 2015 Scrum Alliance Survey, 95 percent of the respondents indicated that they plan to continue to use Scrum in their organizations moving forward, and 81 percent indicated that they believe their certification has helped with their Scrum practices.
