Git, Subversion and Android Development for Embedded Systems

NXP is a leading provider of embedded systems. While NXP is relying on Subversion as the corporate standard for SCM, they also decided to deploy Git (alongside with Gerrit), in particular for mobile / Android development initiatives. TeamForge provides a common platform to manage Git and Subversion, across and within individual projects. Watch the video:

Findings from CollabNet Subversion Industry Survey

The results are in. As the founder of the Subversion open source project, CollabNet conducted its annual Subversion survey.  We asked, and over 1,300 Subversion developers and administrators responded.  Thank you for all the many responses, comments and suggestions! As promised, we summarized the key findings in a summary document. Here, I’d also like to share some of the many individual responses we received. While anonymized, they’re so good, we could not have made them up. 1. Subversion rocks! Perhaps no surprise to anybody, but we were glad to hear it nevertheless: Developers love Subversion. Some of the responses: “Subversion …

Lab Management 2.5 Automates Build, Test and DevOps in the Cloud

Today CollabNet released Lab Management 2.5, the latest version of its popular application for build & test server provisioning. This is a pretty big deal, especially in the context of initiatives such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps. When deployed with TeamForge, Lab Management 2.5 enables: Self-service provisioning of servers for dev / test staff, accelerating release cycles, while eliminating VM sprawl (the latter by automatically decommissioning machines no longer needed to the server pool) Hybrid cloud brokerage for bare metal, public & private clouds, reducing capital & operations cost, and reducing security risk; in particular, by following common …

Eclipse Marketplace passed 1 million installations

Last count was at 1,033,450. The marketplace now features an impressive list of 1,200+ plug-ins. #1 download (and favorite) is Subclipse, developed by CollabNet. Glad to see the strong momentum behind Subversion (and a bit proud too). The Eclipse plugin is actually quite easy to use, I’d encourage you to check it out. And when at it, also see the Eclipse desktop, and the related training video.
