The Week’s Big News: Orchestrate!

Orchestrate-graphic

I’d like to share some big news. Tuesday we announced TeamForge 7 with Orchestrate™. We believe TeamForge Orchestrate represents a breakthrough approach to modern software engineering, as it enables globally dispersed software organizations to connect disparate tools and activities – across locations and clouds.  Together, TeamForge 7 with Orchestrate provides IT organizations with an open, extendable ALM platform for enterprise Agile and DevOps, one that delivers traceability and governance while providing the freedom and control to use a range of open-source and commercial tools in unison. As some of you know, since our inception 14 years ago, CollabNet’s vision has been to provide …

TeamForge for Free…That’s Right, Free. With CloudForge.

CloudForge Project

Tuesday was a big day for CollabNet. We announced some long-planned disruptive changes to CloudForge™ pricing and packaging.  A key component of these changes was making TeamForge® available as an entry point to all CloudForge users.  The initial feedback on this development has been extremely positive with strong press, analyst and partner feedback as well as large spikes in both new and free users. Of course, CollabNet continues to ride the market wave of development and deployment moving to the public and privately managed cloud.  But we’ve had CloudForge for a while, so this begs the question as to “what’s different?”  Basically, …

CollabNet Named One of India’s Great Companies To Work For 2012

Over the past few months, our company has pulled together to conceive, create products and services, and roll out to the market a transformational strategy called Enterprise Cloud Development.  We couldn’t have done it without all of us pulling together as a team in a highly collaborative, passionate, and global way.  Thanks again.  This is the same teamwork and excellence that has allowed CollabNet to be recognized over the years with dozens of technology and business awards. Along these lines, it is with great pleasure that I am able to announce our latest corporate award.  Today, CollabNet has been named …

Together, as individuals, companies, institutions and members of the community at large, we have worked collectively to advance the art of building and deploying software that touches every facet of our daily life.” It’s a vision and a passion we take seriously at CollabNet. Industrializing Agile Software Delivery with ALM 2.0+

On January 12th, I co-presented a webinar entitled “Industrializing Agile Software Delivery with ALM 2.0+.” I presented alongside Dave West, Vice President and Research Director, Forrester Research and Michael Loetzsch, Chief IT Expert, Deutsche Post DHL. In the session, Dave discussed why ALM 2.0+ is vital for implementing agile software delivery and DevOps, and the differences from the traditional ALM approaches and ALM 2.0+.  I described some big shifts and trends we are seeing in the market towards i) agile/mixed process development, ii) the integration of the development and operations IT processes and organizations (i.e., DevOps), and iii) the move …

A New Culture of Collaboration in the Enterprise

ReadWriteCloud recently wrote about this infographic on the history of collaboration in the enterprise from Socialcast. It starts out with a quote from Charles Darwin and navigates the history of collaboration, ending up with 10 common forms of wasted effort in collaboration – concepts our customers often come to us looking to improve. I started thinking about how collaboration can improve in the enterprise. Most people might respond with words like i) shared vision, ii) greater innovation, ii) decreased cycle times and reduced costs of activities – whether it be infrastructure development costs or any particular domain around which the …

Subversion Edge is Rocking – 77% User Adoption!

Recently, I’ve been asked by more than a few analysts, press, and business partners about the adoption of Subversion Edge, which we released earlier this year. The simple answer is terrific! One great thing about Subversion Edge is that users can still opt for the lightweight certified Subversion binaries across a variety of platforms – or instead can also install the certified Edge software stack containing the latest versions of Subversion®, Apache, and ViewVC combined with i) a single installer, ii) already configured to work together, and iii) fronted by a powerful and secure Web-based console. The benefits of this full installation is that is provides simple installation, administration, security, and governance of a user’s Subversion environment.

Guy Martin Empowers DOD's Agile Development in the Cloud

At CollabNet, we appreciate that the world understands our contributions to the advancement of practical methods of software development in the cloud.  For instance, last month, I traveled to Davos where I met with industry leaders who share our vision and want to improve the world with technology. There, CollabNet was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer for leading an industry in transforming the state of software development across entire industries. As a dramatic example of this transformation, I’ve blogged before about CollabNet’s work with the US government to change the way the DoD procures and …

Platform Integration versus “Marketecture”

The reaction to CollabNet’s acquisition of Danube in the press last week was extremely favorable. The market and our customers understand our vision and the rationale for this exciting merger. It’s great to see. Last week, an Agile industry press expert asked me, “How does [CollabNet’s] merger of ALM and Agile leaders compare to the recent marketecture announcement of Company X, Y, and Z”? These were his words, not mine. (For obvious reasons, I have removed the references to the other companies this expert mentioned to me.)
