One of the things I like about social media so much is that it's a two-way system of marketing, which differs from static ads, etc. Social media not only allows a company to get it's messaging out and market their products and services, but it also allows the people on the receiving end to benefit by having a channel directly to the company. In addition, social media provides a feedback loop like no other marketing methods have.
Twitter and Facebook status posts, of course, can allow for a certain amount of dialogue that is important to the company and the client. Additionally, both are powerful research tools for potential buyers, as there is nothing more effective than seeing what others think of a product.
But one of my favorite forms of social media is having a YouTube Channel. I found YouTube exceedingly helpful, for instance, when I bought a telescope recently. There were a few areas I was confused about in setting up my telescope, and it just so happened there were some excellent YouTube videos on telescope alignment. Additionally, I have used YouTube countless times in learning how to use a software application, for getting the gist of what a company is doing, or to listen to key people at certain companies.
So, I am very excited to share with all of you CollabNet's own YouTube Channel openCollabNet1.
